Friday Favorites

I am a voracious reader and every week I come across either a book, online piece or website I want to share with others. I’ve decided to curate these gems and highlight them on Friday. I hope you find these faves as insightful as I do.

  • “We forget all too soon the things we thought we could never forget. We forget the loves and the betrayals alike, forget what we whispered and what we screamed, forget who we were. . . ” – Joan Didion. Read 25 Famous Women on Writing Their Own Stories in the Cut and find out why memoir is so compelling to these writers.
  • I’m Not Having an Affair But Enjoy One on TV is a piece written by one of my favorite writers, Lauren Apfel. Always insightful in her work, Lauren offers a new perspective on why so many of us gravitate toward watching shows which portray extramarital affairs.
  • Amanda Magee’s words are lyrical, beautiful and always push me to think about my life in a deeper way. Her words will push you to reflect as well. Limiting “All” stayed with me long after I read it. “There is certain sadness in life, people will die, shit will break, people will say no. Why do we think “all” is attainable or that “balance” can be achieved? What I learned this week is that we have limits.”

What did you read this week that mattered? Would love to hear from you.
