Every month I chronicle those ordinary delights that give me comfort or offer a place of reflection or joy. Here are my everyday delights for March:

1. My newest coffee mug

It is no secret I adore my hot coffee to ease into my morning routine. I also love the mugs that carry my mocha goodness. My favorite new coffee cup reminds me to “Enjoy Today.” It is an important affirmation to accompany the first few hours of my day.

2. March Madness

My husband is a huge basketball fan and he introduced me to March Madness several years ago. Now, I am hooked. I love filling out my bracket and wondering whether my teams will make it. It’s always interesting to see which team prevails. For the last few years, I’ve organized a pool with local friends and we love to determine who will take the cash prize at the end of the tournament.

3. Insomnia cookies

Have you had an Insomnia cookie? When we were in New York last summer, we discovered these divine cookies. Warm out of the oven, you can’t stop at just one. Unfortunately, Insomnia Cookie stores aren’t in Arizona, but a writer friend shipped an assortment of these cookies to my family last week. I love unexpected lovely surprises from good friends.

4. Life Reimagined by Barbara Bradley Hagerty

My feet are firmly in midlife and as of late, I’ve contemplated more about what this means. It certainly pushes me to reflect on hard topics and complicated emotions. I intersected with Life Reimagined:The Science, Art and Opportunity of Midlife by Barbara Bradley Hagerty recently at the bookstore. Hagerty dedicates her book to different facets of midlife and I’ve found her studies, advice and insight incredibly helpful. I plan on writing a piece about this very book in April, but wanted to share her work because it offered a meaningful perspective.
