I do this meme from time to time and I thought it might be fun to revisit it again. This is what is happening in my world, right now:

What I Am Listening To: I am listening to Alessia Cara nonstop when I am at home. I’ve slipped the new Rihanna album in my CD player – one of my favorite simple pleasures is listening to music in my car with the windows rolled down. You might catch me singing out loud, swaying my head and feeling the music as I pause at a traffic light. On auto repeat consistently this month is, James Bay’s “Let It Go,” and Andra Day’s, “Rise Up.”

What I Am Watching: My husband and I finished watching House of Cards a few weeks ago. It didn’t captivate us as much as other seasons. I am still watching Scandal and of course, we always reserve weekend nights for catching movies. The last two movies we’ve seen are Spotlight and Creed. Sports are mainstay in our house. We loved the buzzer-beater Villanova finish on Monday.

What I Am Reading: I have a mounting pile of books on my office floor, nightstand and I always keep a few in my car, in case of unexpected wait times. I am reading The Orphan Master’s Son by Adam Johnson, Becoming Wise: An Inquiry into the Mystery and Art of Living by Krista Tippett, Catastrophic Happiness: Finding Joy in Childhood’s Messy Years by Catherine Newman, The Wander Society by Keri Smith and This Side of Providence by Rachel Harper.

What I Am Capturing: Spring is a colorful time in the desert. There are a cacophony of hues, yellows, purples, pinks and blues. My gaze focuses on flowers or the sky. I love walking through my neighborhood, witnessing the unfolding of this current season. Last week, I intersected with a clear blue sky and a bouquet of pink – I couldn’t resist taking this snapshot – I love the crisp contrast in colors.

What I Am Loving: I am loving my local Indie bookstore, Changing Hands. Yesterday I had the absolute honor of listening to Helen Macdonald of H Is for Hawk fame. Charming and informative, the evening proved delightful. I don’t want to give away too much here – A more expansive post about Macdonald, her work and the insights she offered will be something I write about soon. The other thrum that seems to be weaving its way through my life is connecting with old friends. I love how these friendships are threaded with history and require little effort to feel shared camaraderie again.
